Quantum Science subject of heightened press interest following international deal

British quantum dot (QD) developer Quantum Science has been the subject of rapidly intensifying press interest following its announcement of an international distribution deal.

The Daresbury-based innovator of INFIQ® Quantum Dots (QDs) recently announced a partnership with Japanese chemical and technology giant Nishimura Chemitech. Quantum Science’s groundbreaking INFIQ® technology uses QDs to create highly sensitive, low cost, longer-range short wave infrared (SWIR) sensors. The cost-effectiveness and high performance of this technology mean it is set to disrupt sensing and imaging markets across many industries including mobile, automotive, IoT devices, machine vision, hyperspectral imaging, and more.

The deal has sparked heightened interest from across the world in INFIQ® QDs, as the UK leads the way in quantum technology in Europe while Japan is the world’s largest sensor market.

Welcoming the interest, Dr Hao Pang, CEO and founder of Quantum Science, said, “We were delighted to see the INFIQ® QD distribution deal profiled in The Times business section recently. As we continue to refine our product ready for mass market, its revolutionary potential is becoming clear. INFIQ® QDs can disrupt several multi-billion dollar industries on their release.

“Ourselves and our partners at Nishimura Chemitech firmly believe this technology can benefit the lives of everyone in the future. So while we’re happy that the press is taking notice, we aren’t surprised by it!”

The Times wrote that INFIQ® technology can “improve the data capacity of consumer electronic products, self-driving vehicles, and surveillance technologies.”

Dr Pang added, “We have more global deals on the horizon that we’re looking forward to announcing very soon. It’s an exciting time for the business, and the UK’s growing quantum technology sector.”
