Graduate Device Engineer Internship

Company background

We are Quantum Science, and we specialise in infrared quantum dot technology. We make advanced quantum dot materials which are used in infrared imaging and sensing applications.

In this role you will work with senior chemists and device engineers in our Project Centre to accelerate the commercialisation of our quantum dot materials.

Our company is based on the Daresbury Laboratory site which is accessible by both car and public transport.

Role and opportunity

Measurement of optoelectronic devices using electrical test equipment
Characterisation of quantum dot materials
Data analysis and report preparation
Training and mentoring by senior scientists

Person specification

UK-based with right to work
Undergraduate degree in Physics, Chemistry, Material Science, Engineering, or related subject
General laboratory experience at undergraduate level is required.
Familiarity with electrical test equipment is desirable as is knowledge of software for measurement & automation and/or data processing e.g. Matlab, JMP, Origin, Python, etc
Attention to detail, commitment, and reliability are essential.
Excellent communication skills both verbal and written are essential.

Pay: This is a paid internship. The final rate will be determined following the interview process, based on the candidate’s relevant skills and experience, and will be confirmed in writing before an offer is accepted. Pay will meet or exceed the applicable National Minimum Wage or National Living Wage.
